Doula
A doula is a non-medical companion who provides support during pregnancy, childbirth, and post-partum
Hi!
I’m Indra, a dedicated doula with a passion for empowering women and supporting them through their birth experiences. With a background in social work since 2006, I have gained extensive knowledge and experience in working with children and their families. More recently, I had the opportunity to work with children in foster care and adoption, which further deepened my understanding of the importance of compassionate care and support during significant life transitions.
My journey into the world of doula work began during my own pregnancy with my third child. I personally experienced the challenges of hyperemesis gravidarum and had a traumatic birth experience. However, my first two births, which took place in the comfort of my own home, were incredibly beautiful and filled with a spiritual element that I will forever cherish. During these experiences, I witnessed the power of the human body and the remarkable ability it possesses to bring forth new life.
It was this profound personal journey that led me to become an advocate for natural birth and the belief that women should have control over their birthing experiences and feel empowered to make informed decisions. I firmly believe in the body’s innate wisdom and the importance of allowing it to guide the birthing process. The transformative and magical nature of my own births inspired me to support other women in reclaiming their power and making informed decisions about their birthing journeys.
As a doula, my primary goal is to provide unwavering support to women throughout their pregnancy, labour, and postpartum period. I am deeply committed to empowering women, ensuring they feel confident in their abilities to care for their newborns, and facilitating a positive and transformative birth experience. I offer a holistic approach to doula care, incorporating my social work background to provide emotional support, evidence-based information, and guidance on navigating the complexities of the healthcare system.
By combining my extensive experience in social work with my personal journey as a mother and doula, I am equipped with a unique skill set to support women during this pivotal time in their lives. My compassionate nature, deep understanding of the emotional and physical challenges women face, and belief in the power of birth make me a dedicated advocate for the women and families I serve.
I am honoured to walk alongside you on your journey and provide the nurturing, empowering, and compassionate support you deserve as you bring new life into the world. Together, we can create a positive and transformative birth experience that aligns with your values and desires.

Indra is an amazing doula, her presence and strength is empowering and inspiring. I’m so grateful that she was with me during labour and throughout my pregnancy journey. She gave me invaluable knowledge and shared her own birth experiences to help me make informed choices regarding my birth and instilled in me the confidence for me to envision the birth I wanted. As a first time mum who unfortunately was being challenged by maternity services, Indra gave me and my husband her full support and protected our birthing space. I highly recommend having Indra as a doula especially if you are looking for someone who is compassionate and has a true passion for the pregnancy and birthing journey. I will never forget the guidance, support and care Indra gave me, truly unforgettable!
